Although the Father's maps did not garner too much fame and fortune it was an enjoyable experience and the beginning of the path that 20 years later would result in SoF2 UE. I had never created anything like this before, the opportunity to create an addon for an existing game that I enjoyed and was so well known was overwhelming. In those days 10p got you 10 minutes on Final Fight or Operation Wolf and while everyone else was enjoying the sun, cycling, swimming and whatever else I was always on the lookout for Splaterhouse, a game I played only a few times, loved and found that very few places seemed to have the Fathers Maps City of the Fathers the Fathers Secret Base Both maps were made with GtkRadiant, versions 1.12.0 and 1.14.0 respectively. The path to becoming a game developer for so many GtkRadiant v1.14.0 Soldier Of Fortune II - Mapping Like many people who eventually got into game development inspiration came in my life from playing games myself as a lad and spending all my money in the first two days of my holiday in the arcades. Utilising the full raw power of the Nvidia Geforce 2 MX GPU and its 32MB RAM the original SoF provided the perfect excuse to drink beer, eat pizza and game until we fell over and had to disconnect the modem These games have helped me get to where I am today and in many ways helped me to succeed And then there was Soldier Of Fortune Not since Goldeneye on the N64 did we have so much fun gaming In all the years that I have been a gamer the four games that have been of partiuclar significance to me are SFII, HL1/2 and SoFII. Now that I am a little older I take more enjoyment from creating games rather than playing them. The last console that I bought before I got into PC gaming was the N64. My first gaming rig was a Commodore 16+4 on which I wrote my first program in BASIC, 10 lines of code that printed all ASCII characters to the screen. The original SoF, the game that started it all It All Began with the Sega Megadrive Even before christmas day 1992 I had already completed Sonic the Hedgehog by covertly unboxing my new console and reboxing it before anyone new what I was doing.
